Chip Removal Conveyor Systems

Transcon “Chip-Out” conveyors evacuate machining chips automatically — built heavier than the rest to handle hot, wet, and abrasive material around the clock.

Automatic chip removal is essential to keeping high-production machine tools running. When chips back up, the machine stops. Transcon “Chip-Out” chip removal conveyors capture and evacuate chips from conventional and CNC machine tools in a continuous, synchronized cycle — automatically, without manual handling of the chips.

Each Chip-Out is individually designed to your machine-tool layout, material, and production rate, and handles abrasive, hot, and wet chips, scrap turnings, borings, and parts. With Transcon’s heavier construction — extra-heavy 1/4″ steel belt links and a rugged frame — you get a longer working life and the kind of heavy-duty performance that survives daily high-volume use.

Built for Continuous, Automatic Chip Evacuation

A chip conveyor lives a hard life: hot, abrasive material lands on it constantly, often mixed with coolant. That is why the Chip-Out is engineered to a different standard than a general-purpose belt. It can be designed in a wide range of widths, lengths, inclines, and belt paths so it drops into your cell exactly where you need it — under a single machine or tying a whole line into central collection.

Design and Construction Features

The rugged design of the base Chip-Out is packed with heavy-duty features that ensure years of trouble-free service:

Frame & Belt

  • Heavy belt pans — 2½″ pitch, 1/8″ thick
  • 3/16″ dia. high-carbon steel belt pins
  • Choice of cleats, dimples, or perforations
  • Double side-bar roller chains on both sides of the belt
  • Heat-treated powdered-metal side wings
  • Welded interlocking side wings

Frame Support & Wear

  • Abrasion-resistant track, full length
  • Anti-friction bearings
  • Backup channels behind the side wings
  • Wrap-around frame design
  • Take-up at the head end
  • Options for top covers, bottom pans, coolant drains, and more

Chip-Out System Options

Every Chip-Out is built to the specifications of your machine-tool layout. A wide range of standard options lets us tune the conveyor to your application:

  • Hinged steel belt types — plain, perforated, dimpled, or embossed
  • Discharge chutes — manual, motorized, automatic, or bin-level sensing
  • Automatic take-up — spring or cylinder
  • Coolant drain pipes or holes — for wet machining chips
  • 1/8″ or heavier side skirting, loading baffles, and hoppers
  • Standard or low-height frames and adjustable supports
  • Stainless steel wire mesh belting, controls, covers, and special construction

Chip removal is one part of a larger picture. Many plants pair a Chip-Out with a scrap handling conveyor for downstream collection, and rely on overload and jamming protection to guard the drive when a slug of material hits.
