Chip Removal Conveyors
Reliable Chip Conveyors for CNC and Machining Environments
Transcon chip removal conveyors are engineered for CNC machines, lathes, mills, machining centers, and metalworking operations that produce high volumes of chips, turnings, fines, coolant, and debris. Built with our welded hinge steel belt technology, these conveyors deliver superior durability and continuous, clog-free chip evacuation.
Engineered to keep your machines cutting and your production moving.
Continuous, Clog-Free Chip Management
Chip Removal Conveyors for CNC Machines & Metalworking Lines
Machining operations produce a wide variety of chips - stringy, coarse, fine, oily, hot, abrasive, or mixed with coolant. Transcon chip conveyors are designed to handle all of it while maintaining consistent movement and preventing jams that lead to machine downtime.
Common machining applications include:
- CNC lathe and mill chip evacuation
- Horizontal and vertical machining centers
- High-volume coolant-rich environments
- Steel, aluminum, and non-ferrous metal chips
- Stringy or bird-nest chips from turning operations
- Coarse or broken chips from milling and drilling
Our welded hinge steel belts can handle heavy chip loads, direct coolant, and abrasive debris without premature wear or hinge failure.

Built for Coolant, Chips, and Abrasive Debris
Engineered for Harsh Machining Environments
Chip removal conveyors often operate in punishing conditions - submerged in coolant, running beneath machine tools, or managing continuous streams of hot, abrasive metal turnings. Transcon designs each conveyor based on your machine’s load, coolant volume, and required duty cycle.
Available configurations include:
- In-floor or under-machine chip conveyors
- Direct-discharge chip removal systems
- Coolant-drain sections and perforated options
- High-capacity belt designs for long runs
- Multiple discharge heights and angles
- Heavy-duty drip trays and fluid return systems
- Integration with filtration units
Your conveyor can be configured to deliver chips to barrels, bins, crushers, briquetters, or centralized chip systems.
Keep Your Machines Running at Peak Efficiency
Chip buildup leads to machine downtime, tool wear, coolant contamination, and operator intervention. Transcon chip conveyors eliminate these issues with continuous, dependable chip removal that keeps your machining centers productive and safe.

Common Questions
Short answers to what engineers and maintenance teams ask us most about this equipment.
How does Transcon handle CNC chip and turnings removal?
Our chip removal conveyor systems are specifically designed for CNC lathes, mills, machining centers, and multi-axis machines. They handle all chip types - stringy bird-nest chips from turning, coarse broken chips from milling, fine chips from drilling, and oily or coolant-laden material. Configurations include in-floor and under-machine installations, perforated belt sections for coolant drainage, and integration with filtration units. Our welded hinge design prevents chip jamming that plagues conventional belt systems.
How does a chip conveyor separate coolant from chips?
Through the belt itself. A perforated steel belt lets coolant drain back through the pan while the chip rides on top and carries to discharge.
The perforation pattern is selected for the chip you actually produce. A pattern sized for cast iron fines will blind over or pass material straight through if it is matched to the wrong chip form, so this is an application decision rather than a standard. Where coolant carry-over is not a concern, or where a separate filtration stage handles it downstream, solid pans are used instead.
For fines and grinding swarf, a drag-style configuration moves sludge along the bottom of the trough rather than trying to carry it on a belt surface. More detail on chip removal conveyor systems.
What belt options are available for handling metal chips and coolant?
For CNC machining and metalworking environments, we offer perforated belts that allow coolant to drain through while carrying chips, side wings to contain material and prevent spillover, and custom configurations to handle stringy, coarse, fine, oily, hot, or abrasive chips. Our chip removal conveyor systems can be configured for in-floor or under-machine installation and integrate with coolant filtration systems.
What overload protection is available on Transcon conveyors?
Three approaches, matched to belt pitch. On 2½″ pitch conveyors we use a slip clutch. On 4″, 6″, and 9″ pitch we use a shear pin hub. Electronic overload monitoring is available as an option on any size.
All three do the same job: stop the drive before the belt, sprockets, and reducer absorb the load. A jam then costs a shear pin and a few minutes instead of a gearbox and a shift.
Electronic monitoring is worth adding where a conveyor runs unattended and you want the fault raised to the control system rather than discovered at shift change. Full detail on overload and jamming protection.
