Industries Forging

Conveyors for forging. Built for heat, scale and shock loads.

Forging pushes a conveyor to its limit. Red-hot parts, abrasive scale, heavy drops and a duty cycle that never lets up will destroy equipment that was not built for it.

We engineer every forging conveyor around your line: the temperature, the part, the drop height and the volume. Then we build it in our own facility in Mentor, Ohio.

On the forge floor

Every station from the furnace to the trim press

From Hot forgings to heat treating to the trim press we design and build each transition to handle the job.

Furnace to press

Red-hot billets and parts moved from the furnace to the press, on belting built for the heat instead of warped by it.

Hammer, press and trim

Frames reinforced for the impact zones under load areas, presses and trim operations.

Scale and scrap

Scale-handling chutes, pans and collection sections for abrasive scale, flash and trim scrap.

High-impact drop zones

Heavy steel and alloy parts dropped onto the belt all shift, without denting or separating it.

Hot and drenched parts

Bar belting and stainless wire mesh for parts that come off the line hot, or wet from a quench.

Your line layout

Straight, incline, decline and Z-style layouts, integrated with your furnaces, presses and hammers.

The belt

In a forge, the belt takes the hit

Our competitive advantage is mostly in the belt. Welded tube and solid belt pans give you more capacity in pull, more carrying load and more durability.

A solid pan will not dent or distort at a seam, because there are no seams. That means less downtime and fewer belt replacements.

We make custom belting in pan thicknesses up to 5/8", and every pan is robotically welded for consistent quality.

Belt pan construction

What fails

Multi-piece pan

Distorts and separates at the seams under high impact loading.

Max pan thickness 1/4"

What we build

Transcon solid pan

No seams to open up. Withstands high impact loading without deflecting.

Max pan thickness 5/8"

Hinge loop construction

What fails

Formed hinge loop

High impact loading can cause formed hinge loops to separate.

Attachment Formed from pan

What we build

Transcon welded loop

Loops are welded to the pan, so pan deflection stays negligible.

Attachment 100% welded

Transcon bar belt conveyor with insulation panels under the belt

Bar belt conveyors

Built to grow with the heat, not warp with it.

Any size and weight of part, on belt widths up to 72 inches or wider.

  • Variable belting surface area and heat sink capability, sized to your parts.
  • A flat carrying surface, with variable gaps between bars and open spaces.
  • Belt components designed to take differential heat expansion without warping.
  • Roller supports under the belt prevent sagging.
  • Insulation panels reduce heat damage to the frame and belt chain.
  • Air take-ups follow the belt as it expands and contracts, with no constant manual adjustment.
  • Customizable rail guards.

How ours is built

Heat-resistant belting

Welded hinge steel belts, bar belts and stainless mesh, chosen for the temperature your parts leave the press at.

Reinforced frames

Heavy steel structure, reinforced where the impact actually lands.

High-temperature components

Bearings, rollers and drive components specified for the heat around them.

Solid pans to 8' wide

No seams across the full carrying width, with 100% welded loops and side wings welded inside and out.

Forging designs

Built for what comes off your press

Beyond the standard steel hinged belt, we build proprietary designs for the handling problems forging shops actually have.

Transcon patented continuous radius conveyor belt on a machine frame Patented

Continuous Radius Belt

Removes the pinch point at the end of a transfer conveyor, so parts do not jam and transfer tongs do not catch between the belt and the catch pan. Available in 6 inch and 9 inch pitch.

Stainless wire mesh

Built for carrying hot, drenched parts.

Piggy-Back conveyor

Two conveyors, one mounted above the other, loading and discharging parts and scrap at different heights. Integrated diverter chutes and shaft mounted drives with internal take-ups.
