Transcon scrap handling conveyor systems are expertly engineered and manufactured to add to your operation’s efficiency and live up to real production demands. Whether your application is light or heavy duty, our engineering and manufacturing team builds a customized conveyor solution around your material and your operation — not a catalog unit forced to fit.

Matched to the Duty Cycle
Scrap handling covers a wide range of material and volume, so Transcon builds across two pitch classes. The lighter 2½″ and 4″ pitch systems and the heavier 6″ and 9″ pitch systems share the same welded hinge steel belt foundation, sized up as the load gets tougher.
2½″ & 4″ Pitch — Lighter Duty
- Chips and turnings
- Hot parts and scrap
- Quench-tank applications
- Scrap parts and sprues
- Lighter-volume mainstay scrap
6″ & 9″ Pitch — Toughest Duty
- Baler feed and long conveyor runs
- Castings, forgings, and billet scrap
- Chips, turnings, and chopped billet
- Hot parts, scrap, and quench-tank scrap
- High-volume and heavier mainstay scrap
Stay in Complete Control: Options
Scrap handling is rarely a single conveyor — it is a system that has to gate, meter, and direct material safely. Transcon engineers the controls and accessories into the build:
- Closed panel construction — strong solid-steel panels for light to medium duty, at a lower cost
- Open frame construction (6″ and 9″) — stronger truss design from light to extreme duty, with easier maintenance access and see-thru frame visibility
- Side skirts, impact bars (load area, full length), and abrasion-resistant tracks (ASCE rail or angle)
- Power-operated gates and chutes for directing scrap
- Controls — stand-alone or complete systems, automated load sensing, container sensing
- Service platforms, access stairs, and ladders
- Shuttling options — single- or multi-container, with automated loading systems
Scrap handling, chip removal, and material transport often run as one connected system. They share the welded hinge steel belt detailed in our steel belt conveyor specifications, are protected by overload and jamming protection, and rely on correct take-up design to hold belt tension. Transcon builds for a wide range of industries, from foundries and forging to recycling and municipal solid waste.
